Mr. Brian O’Briain B.E., MBA
Brian has over 16 years of management experience in both the US and Europe gained through positions at both General Electric and Baxter Healthcare. In 1991 Brian founded Mayo Healthcare, a veterinary nutrition and healthcare company based in Westport, Co. Mayo. From a greenfield site, it now has manufacturing and regulatory licenses from both the Irish Medicines Board and the Irish Department of Agriculture and exports to 5 countries worldwide.
Prof. Vincent O’Flaherty, B.Sc., PhD
Vincent is Professor and Head of Microbiology at the School of Natural Sciences at NUI, Galway. He has 20 years experience in the area of microbial biofilm and ecology research and is an internationally recognized research leader in the field. He has published over 250 scientific communications, including 75 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals. He has also successfully and consistently secured research funding from Irish and EU programmes (>€8m) and is a Science Foundation Ireland Investigator.
Dr Paul McCay B.Sc., PhD
Paul was a post-doctoral researcher in Microbiology at NUI Galway since 2008. His research focuses on the development and action of antimicrobial compounds, with a particular interest on their action against bacterial biofilms. He was awarded an Embark scholarship to carry out his doctoral research and has published his research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
Mr. Killian O’Briain
Killian has worked with Mayo Healthcare since its inception, initially leading the company’s market development. His technical marketing capabilities and close contact with key customers and distributors has been instrumental in the growth of Mayo Healthcare and the identification of new product and market development opportunities. Killian has successfully brought several nutritional and therapeutic products from initial concept, regulatory approval through to market. In 2007 Killian became the CEO of the company and has since played a key role in the acquisition of manufacturing capability and the initiation and growth of export business to continental Europe.
